Los Angeles, CA – When German industrialists Rammstein released “Du Hast” in 1997, no one could have predicted the international fervor the song would provoke. Riding the wave of late ‘90s angsty, alternative “nü” metal, the track became an inescapable fixture of both radio and movies, appearing on soundtracks for The Matrix and How High as well as video games like Guitar Hero 5 and Rock Band 3. For some, it was a wake up call to industrial artists and music scenes outside of the U.S. and American bands like NIN and Ministry, which led to renewed interest in artists such as Denmark’s Claus Larsen who had quietly reigned as the king of international industrial metal since the founding of his project Leæther Strip in the late ‘80s.
Now, Larsen is returning the favor to Rammstein, offering up his own unique take on their mega smash hit single in a cover version that is being released to all digital platforms today. In Larsen’s hands, “Du Hast” transforms from a headbanging anthem into a gruesome groove that’s more danceable than damaging yet still has just as much power and bite as the original. Larsen is no stranger to cover versions having launched his successful Æppreciation album series in 2014 and is now on its fifth installment. This single is also the earliest preview of a forthcoming tribute album to Rammstein that will be released later this year and will feature more exciting new talents such as Priest, Skold, Manntra and more!
