What is a Licenses: The music is licensed to you, not sold. The “license”, “license agreement” or “synchronization license” is the contract that allows you to reproduce music in a synchronized way with your production.
Why do I need a license?: Without a license, reproducing music (from our site or from another source) in a synchronized way with your production is illegal.
What does the license cover?: The license covers all costs normally paid by the Licensee (you).
What does the license not cover?: The license does not cover public performances royalties, which are normally paid by the broadcaster, distributor or manufacturer.
How long is the license valid?: The term of the license is mentioned in the license agreement. It varies depending on the type of your production (use).
With whom will I sign the license agreement?: The license agreement is between you and the Licensor.
Can I purchase an exclusive license for music?: The Licensors decide whether or not they agree to sell exclusive licenses for their music. Before you purchase a license, we will advise you if an exclusive license is available. If you purchase such a license, the music will be permanently removed from the site.
Is all the music on Cleopatra Film TV pre-cleared?: The vast majority of the music on Cleopatra Film TV is pre-cleared. As for the music that is not (less than 10%), we have developed a function called “license on request”, which allows you to connect directly to the relevant Licensors.
Can I find music under Creative Commons licenses on Cleopatra Film TV?: Music owners who usually offer their music under Creative Commons licenses are most welcome. We have adapted our standard license agreement to meet the terms of Creative Commons licenses.

Why is the music I found not on the site anymore?: That could be because (1) we sold an exclusive license for it or (2) because the Licensor asked us to remove it. If you placed the music in your Project Manager BEFORE the Licensor notified us of their decision to remove it, you will be notified of this and have an extra four weeks to purchase the license for it. After this deadline, nobody will be allowed to purchase a license for that music anymore and it will be completely removed from the site, including your Project Manager.
Can I download music previews?: As a Licensee, you are allowed to download previews of music to test them with your production.
What format is the music preview when I download it?: This will be a low resolution .mp3 quality version to prevent any commercial use.
How much does a license cost?: The price of a license is calculated based on how the music will be used and may also vary from one track to another (hit and non hit). The pricing policy is available here.

What is the currency for the purchase of licenses?: The fees for the purchase of licenses are payable in U.S. Dollars ($). If you live outside the United States of America, your credit card company will calculate your local currency equivalent.
How do I receive my music once I have completed my purchase?: Once your payment has been accepted you will receive an e-mail from us with instructions on how to download the music.
What format is the music in when I download it?: All music you buy is supplied as broadcast quality: .wav – 44 KHz – 16 bit – stereo or mp3.
Do I get an invoice for my purchase?: Yes. As soon as we have received your payment you will receive an e-mail from us with a link to view and/or print your invoice.
Do I get my own copy of the license agreement?: Yes. As soon as we have received your payment you will receive an e-mail with a link to view and/or print the license agreement(s).
What about returns / refunds?: Since all music can be previewed and downloaded before purchasing, we do not give returns / refunds.

What can I use the music for?: You can use the music for any kind of production including features and short films, TV production, radio production, computer and video games, advertisements, websites, promotional/educational/training CD-ROM, DVD or video, trade exhibitions as well as for corporate presentations.
Are there any circumstances where the use of music is prohibited?: The Licensors decide whether or not they want to apply use restrictions to their music. Before you purchase a license, we will tell you if use restrictions apply or not for this music.
Can I integrate the music in the soundtrack (CD) of my production?: Yes. You can integrate the music in the soundtrack (CD) of your production.
If I integrate the music in the soundtrack (CD) of my production, do I have to pay royalties to someone?: You, the distributor or the manufacturer of the soundtrack (CD) must pay the music owner(s) a royalty fee. Usually, it amounts to 100% of the statutory rate and no less than 0,10 euro per music track and per copy of the soundtrack CD released.
Can I include the music in the trailer of my production?: Yes. You have the right to use and perform the music in connection with trailers, adverts and promos used to advertise and publicize your production.
Can I share the music for which I purchased a license with others?: No. All the music is copyrighted and can ONLY be used within the scope of the production for which you purchased a license. Sharing the music with others is illegal.
Can I send the music I purchased to anybody?: No. The music you download from CleopatraFilmTV.com may only be sent to person(s) directly related to your production.
Can I use the music I purchased in one of my other productions?: No. You can only use the music for the production you bought a license for. Using this music with another of your productions is illegal.
