Conscious hip hop is how this young award-winning artist describes his style and message. Nxus is a 22 year old writer and aspiring sound engineer. He performs with an Orange County group known as Dead Reputation with Delirious and Rake and with rapper Yvng Sunny. Dead Reputation’s Scopolamine music video (Parental Advisory) has over 100- thousand hits on Youtube.
Under the names Nasty Nxus, Nexus, Nasty Nexus, he has released 15+ songs and is working on his first solo EP “Pictures”. Broken Pencils was his first mix-tape produced entirely by Delirious Beats. Linking up with LA producer CBall the duo plan on releasing a self constructed project titled “The Human Photosynthesis Mixtape”. He is sponsored by Demise Co., Blocked Apparel, Guilty Avenue Co. He is managed by Stacy Lemus.
Under Take Flite Entertainment, Nxus he has received honors: Best Hip Hop/Rap Video, Best Hip Hop/Rap Song. He has performed live at a WNBA game 1/2 time at Staples Center, at an Oscar After-Party, and at black tie benefits.
While Nxus is a rap artist, and much of his works have a mature theme, he also does family-friendly work with Take Flite Entertainment under the artist name Team WC as a way to bring awareness to foster care and adoption. Nxus, Jamal, was adopted under the national Wednesday’s Child program with Fox 11’s Christine Devine. He started writing lyrics in foster care as part of his therapy.
Team WC is most proud of a song titled “faith in TRUTH”. It was written for any young person who’s ever felt alone, walked along, specifically for children from foster care. The song was used as the 2013 Wednesday’s Child theme song and a music video included children from the Wednesday’s Child reunion. That video was honored with The Akademia Music Awards’ “Best A Capella Music Video”.
Nxus’ parents, Maurice and Susan, went on to adopt four more children.
