How many second-graders can say they’ve been flown to Ireland to dance alongside folk singer Judy Collins?
Emily Acadia Ellis can.
The 9-year-old from Barber Elementary School in Phillipsburg was chosen to take part in the “Judy Collins: Live in Ireland” special produced for PBS, according to a news release.
Ellis is an Irish dance student atO’Grady Quinlan Academy of Irish Dance in Bethlehem. She’s been studying the art for the past four years and was spotted at a community dance demonstration put on by the school.
According to the release, Emily and her mom were flown to Dromoland Castle in County Clare, Ireland, to dance asCollins sang ”Granddaddy.”
The show was filmed before a live studio audience. The CD and DVD will be released Tuesday.
“It felt like a dream,” Ellis said in the release.
