On April 13th, Cleopatra Records will release Quinceañera – Vendetta Red’s first album for 13 years.
Founding member and frontman Zach Davidson returns with long-time drummer Burke Thomas for a full set of brand new, original material that picks up where the band’s Billboard topping #1 album Between The Never And The Now left off.
‘Quinceañera’ features 12 songs of psychedelic rock, grunge, post hardcore and thrash. Soundtracking an album touching on the lure of sirens (Swim), crititiquing the current US political situation and the country’s attitude to immigrants (Wild and Dangerous/The Dreamers), and a tribute Laura Jane Grace from Against Me! (Encantado). As well as the personal themes on songs such as West Of Birmingham (about Davidson’s absent father) and The Undending War (about the challenges of being a parent), and ‘Til You Have Forgiven Me.
Still very much connected to their heavy roots, songs like The Circle are full on thrash, coming on like the Smashing Pumpkins. Other musical influence Davidson says inspired the album, includes The Damned, U2 and Radiohead.
Zach Davidson’s song by song guide available on request.
