Doro Goes Her Own Way With Whitesnake Guitarist Joel Hoekstra, Sepultura Drummer Greyson Nekrutman And A Fleetwood Mac Classic

It had to happen sometime. Fleetwood Mac might have the reputation of a classic AOR band, but if you track back through their near-60 year career, there’s a wealth of songs that completely defy such one-dimensional branding. And the forthcoming tribute album Steel Rumours - The Songs Of Fleetwood Mac Reforged In Metal is replete with a dozen of them!

From their earliest years as a blues band, through the hard rock with which guitar legend Peter Green flirted in the early 1970, the underground sounds of the first half of that decade, and then the glorious pop-rock of the Buckingham-Nicks era, Fleetwood Mac remain impossible to accurately categorize.

And if you need proof of that, listen to how readily even their greatest hits can be recast into pure, livid metal, as Lorraine Lewis (Femme Fatale), Holly West and Fred Aching (Dead Groove), Candice Night (Blackmore’s Night), Corey Parks (Nashville Pussy), Tim “Ripper” Owens (Judas Priest), Ronnie Romero (Rainbow), Vinnie Appice (Black Sabbath) and more come together to rampage through the songbook

Together, they journey from “Black Magic Woman” and “The Green Manalishi (With The Two Pronged Crown)” to “Little Lies” and “Everywhere,” via “Rhiannon,” “Gypsy,” “Dreams,” Stevie Nicks’s solo “Edge of 17” and, released as a digital single today, “Go Your One Way,” a 6 x Platinum Top 10 hit in 1977.

Featuring genre-crushing performances from Joel Hoekstra (Whitesnake, Night Ranger, Trans-Siberia Orchestra) and Greyson Nekrutman (Sepultura), “Go Your Own Way” also features veteran metal queen Doro Pesch, the first woman ever to grace the Monsters of Rock festival stage back in 1986, and whose band Doro were recipients of one of Gene Simmons’s finest ever outside production jobs.

Alongside the scything guitars that lift this performance so far from Fleetwood Mac’s original, Doro’s husky, haunted vocal takes the song to a whole new level - one that might not thrill the diehard Mac-heads out there (or maybe it will?), but will certainly electrify the metal community. And just wait until you hear how Hoekstra reinvents the song’s signature guitar solo!

"I’ve always liked the song,” says Doro, “And it was fun to give it a new twist—especially with a great guitarist like Joel Hokstra and powerhouse drummer Greyson Nekrutman."

Dropping on November 20, Steel Rumours - The Songs Of Fleetwood Mac Reforged In Metal is surely among the most imaginatively conceived, and brilliantly realized tribute albums of 2026, a blast from a past that some people will probably say they never paid attention to at the time… of course, they were too busy listening to metal to switch on the radio.

But you can bet that they still know all the words.
