Jeordie drops some Tainted Love just in time for Thanksgiving

Los Angeles, California: The singularly-named Jeordie might have a background in folk and country, but her heart lies in a lot of other places as well. Including eighties synthipop.

Available now on all the platforms, the Arizona-based Jeordie’s new single strips Soft Cell’s monster 1980 hit “Tainted Love” to the bone, divorcing it not only from the synthipop dance floor of the day, but even from the soul club shadows where the song first impacted, in the hands of singer Grace Jones.

Achingly acoustic, heartbreakingly intense, Jeordie’s lone voice and guitar deliver an entirely different feel to any version you’ve heard before. But you’ll definitely want to hear it again.

But Soft Cell lovers should not despair! In concert, Jeordie takes another page from Marc Almond and Dave Ball’s playbook, echoing the dramatic conclusion of their “Tainted Love” 12-inch by adding her own audacious segue into Holland-Dozier-Holland’s immortal “Where Did Our Love Go” - another soul classic that cried out for reinvention.

Jeordie has also recently finished working with producer Jurgen Engler (Die Krupps) for a forthcoming new single.
