In 1954, KWKH s Louisiana Hayride was the biggest, brashest and most influential radio show in the land, relentlessly pushing the boundaries of country music. That same year, the producers of the popular show took a chance on a young, 19-year-old singer whose debut single That s All Right had just been released by Sun Records. His name was Elvis Presley and, despite the fact that his songs were way more rock n roll than country, Elvis became a regular on the show, appearing every weekend (bar five) over the next 12 months. Presley signed on for an additional year and from October 1954 to his last appearance on December 15th of 1956, the Louisiana Hayride radio show watched this boisterous, blue-eyed bad boy go from a young upstart to the biggest star in American music history. In fact, during his final appearance on the show – a charity event – the screams of the audience overwhelmed the volume produced on stage by the band.
These timeless recordings of a young Presley wetting his feet are here, gathered together for the first time ever on one CD. Listen to every step of Presley s development as an artist and icon, well on his way to becoming a legend and the King!
