Switchblade Symphony
Switchblade Symphony was an American darkwave band formed in 1989 in San Francisco by composer Susan Wallace and vocalist Tina Root. Known for their haunting melodies, ethereal vocals, and theatrical flair, the band became a defining act in the goth and darkwave scenes of the 1990s. Their debut album, Serpentine Gallery (1995), featured a distinctive blend of orchestral synths, atmospheric beats, and gothic aesthetics, earning them a dedicated following. With tracks like “Clown” and “Dollhouse,” Switchblade Symphony’s music is characterized by a fusion of electronic elements, classical influences, and eerie, dreamlike soundscapes. Despite disbanding in 1999, their music continues to resonate within the gothic and darkwave communities, solidifying their place as one of the genre’s most iconic bands.
