Helios Creed
Helios Creed, born Barry Johnson on November 3, 1953, is an American guitarist, singer, and bandleader known for his pioneering contributions to industrial and space rock. Emerging in the mid-1970s with the influential San Francisco band Chrome, Creed developed a distinctive sound characterized by heavy use of guitar effects and psychedelic influences. After Chrome disbanded, he launched a solo career, releasing numerous albums on indie labels like Sub Pop and Cleopatra Records. Creed’s work has influenced a wide range of artists, including Butthole Surfers and MGMT, with whom he has also collaborated. Known for his experimental approach to music, Helios Creed continues to record and perform, maintaining his status as a cult figure in the underground music scene.
