The Meteors
The Meteors are an English psychobilly band formed in 1980 in London. As pioneers of the psychobilly subgenre, they fused punk rock, rockabilly, and horror themes to create a distinctive and influential sound. The original lineup consisted of P. Paul Fenech (guitar/vocals), Nigel Lewis (bass/vocals), and Mark Robertson (drums). Despite being initially shunned by the neo-rockabilly scene for their extreme sound and style, The Meteors gained a cult following and helped define psychobilly, a genre that blends the raw energy of punk with the rootsy feel of rockabilly. They released their debut album, The Case of the Meteors in Heaven, in 1981 and have since undergone numerous lineup changes, with Fenech remaining the only constant member. Over the years, Fenech has also explored side projects and released solo work, further solidifying his place in the psychobilly scene.
