Shuggie Otis is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and recording artist known for his unique blend of soul, funk, and psychedelia. Born in Los Angeles in 1953, Shuggie is the son of renowned R&B musician Johnny Otis. He gained early fame with his 1971 hit "Strawberry Letter 23," which later became a major success for The Brothers Johnson. Shuggie’s most celebrated work, the album Inspiration Information (1974), showcased his innovative sound and musical versatility. After a period of relative obscurity, the album was re-released in 2001, sparking renewed interest in his work.
