Cactus - Restrictions - 'Ot 'N' Sweaty (2 CD - Import)
Cactus wurde 1969 von den Gründungsmitgliedern von Vanilla Fudge gegründet: Tim Bogert am Bass und Carmine Appice am Schlagzeug. Obwohl ursprünglich Rod Stewart und Jeff Beck geplant waren, wurde die Besetzung von Cactus schließlich durch Jim McCarty (von Mitch Ryders Detroit Wheels und The Buddy Miles Express) an der Gitarre und Rusty Day (von The Amboy Dukes) an Gesang und Mundharmonika vervollständigt.
Ihr bluesig-düsterer Rock hatte großen Einfluss auf nachfolgende Generationen von Hardrock- und Heavy-Metal-Bands, darunter Montrose, AC/DC, Van Halen und Monster Magnet.
Nach „Restrictions“, der dritten und letzten LP mit Jim McCarty und Rusty Day, kamen für „'Ot 'N' Sweaty“ der Leaf Hound- und Atomic Rooster-Sänger Pete French, Werner Fritzschings (Gitarre) und Duane Hitchings (Keyboards) hinzu. Die erste Seite der Original-LP wurde live in Puerto Rico beim Mar y Sol Pop Festival aufgenommen, die zweite enthält Studioaufnahmen – das Album endet mit einem etwas unpassenden Cover von „Underneath The Arches“, inspiriert von der Tour mit Rod Stewart & The Faces.
Mit remastertem Audio und einem Bonustrack enthält dieses Set Liner Notes von Classic Rocks Malcolm Dome, basierend auf aktuellen Interviews mit Carmine Appice. Cactus sind derzeit mit einer Besetzung auf Tour
mit McCarty und Appice.
